SEPTEMBER 6, 2007

Debi thanked everyone for their hard work and contributions to the Lincoln County Fairbooth. She introduced visitors. The meeting was turned over to Women’s Club President, Debbie Greenfield. The meeting was turned back over to Debi Thompson and Central Committee business was continued.
Debi gave a brief overview of the Fairbooth activities; everyone thought that the straw poll was a success; the ice cream freezer was won by a gentleman from Prague.
Debi introduced County Commissioner Ricky Taylor. He gave some background on what the commissioners were working on in their districts. He also talked about the importance of the sales tax renewal: if it is not passed there would be many things that would not be accomplished that are of vital importance to the maintenance and upkeep of our county roads and bridges which are much in need of repair. The tax provides extra money that is necessary to maintain a safer community for all. Commissioner Taylor also said that it will be important for everyone to promote the passage of this tax, that somehow we can help get out the vote. He said that without this extra money it would be very hard for them to keep the work structure they have been maintaining and he thanked everyone for their support.
Debi then introduced Court Clerk Cindy Kirby, she gave a report of all the things going on in her office. She gave us a handout of all the court filings as of September 4, 2007. She told us that her office has a website reference: ODCR.NET and Oklahoma State Courts Network . If you go to these sites you can follow all activities that occur in the Court Clerk’s office. She then answered questions from the floor.
The hat was passed and we collected $276.00; Women’s Club and the Central Committee each received $138.00.

Minutes for joint meeting of Lincoln County Democrats and
Democratic Women, May 4, 2006....
Tony called the meeting to order and asked for any
business from the women's group, but there was none. Our Minutes and
Treasurer's Report were read and approved. Tony announced that he
has scheduled Kim Holland, our State Insurance Commissioner, to
speak at our meeting on July 6. He then told us of several
neighboring county fund-raisers' dates and guest speakers, in case
we might be interested in attending. He also told us that our
Jefferson-Jackson Dinner was a big success, thanks to Debi
Thompson's leadership, with the help of the committee and many
others of our members, as well as Frosty Troy, Megan Hart, and the
Lincoln County Dulcimers.
We discussed the possibility of a "Meet and Greet" party
in Tilghman Park in July, and a committee was formed to begin plans
for it. The ideas passed around included homemade ice cream, cakes,
and cookies.
Shirley Robertson brought some papers for us to read and
decide individually whether or not we want to sign and send them in.
The most important one is a petition for a minimum wage increase,
and we need to collect signatures of registered voters, have it
notarized. The other is an informative paper on a proposed "Tabor
Bill of Rights" that we need to read thoroughly and vote on. Also
presented was a paper telling us of cuts in the Chandler Senior
Center funding, which could cause them not to get their daily
lunches, so they need our votes, too.
Debbie Greenfield and James Melson talked a little bit
about some of the county business their work involves.
A basket was passed, and we collected $155, which meant
each club received $77.50. When that was added to what we had left
after the fund-raiser, it brings us to $1,523.91, and Debi Thompson
read off a number of private donations we had received afterwards,
which will also be added to it.
Our next meeting will be held at Garwooly's on June 1,
2006. Meeting Adjourned.

time for her to call. She highly recommends that we all give it a
try, as it isn't difficult.

and Max Rickets reported that he had, and the best time to call is
generally between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. He said we should introduce
ourselves and let them know we are not going to ask for anything at
this time, but get their names and update files.
Our county Clerk, Debbie Greenfield discussed updates in
her office, including more computers and filming records for smaller
books. Our commissioner, James Melson told us more about the fire
fighting being done in our county and the fact that we lost about
eight homes. Our guest speaker, Lloyd Fields talked to us about his
campaign for the office of State Labor Commissioner and told us a
little about his background.

committee will work toward getting something going and report to us
next month.

lists available on the computer website given to us last month. Tony
then asked representatives from each town in the county to report to
our webmaster, John Crawford, information from their newspapers on
activities planned for their communities. He also asked for contact
information for clubs or activities with which we have connections,
so that it can be put on the website for any candidates that might
want to speak on their own behalf to the groups.
Our Court Clerk Cindy Kirby gave a summary of the kinds
of cases her office has dealt with recently, as well as a review of
the budget items with which they are concerned.

in Chandler, along with a review of the 911 procedures. Then, he

veterans' committee. He thanked us for handling the minutes for him
while he has been unable to attend meetings. Tony then thanked Max
and Dee Rickets for the donation of a refrigerator for our booth.
Our 5 in 5 training was done by Amy Foster and Teresa
Hill from the State Democratic Party offices in Oklahoma City. They
taught us ways in which we can reach the Democrats in our own area
and get them to the polls. One plan is by going to a connection they
have on the internet that shows where democrats live in our
precinct, then going to visit with them. They then presented a
program that we could take part in called "1 in a Million," where if
we'd donate a dollar each to the Party, or at least five per
precinct, we'd receive a decal per dollar for our cars to let people
know where we stand and get conversation started with them.
Meeting adjourned. Our next meeting will be held at
Garwooly's on February 2nd.

to be able to actually vote on it in the December 13 election.
County Clerk Debbie Greenfield was recognized and spoke
shortly about the new, smaller version of the county records which
has been put into place, while the originals have been stored in a
safe place, away from the courthouse.

spoke a little concerning the upcoming election, in which he is
involved in the same race as Greg Wilson to give Oklahoma better
representation in the Nation.
Our County Assessor, Randy Wintz, spoke to us about the
election to eliminate personal property tax on home furnishings and
livestock. There will be an increase of about 3½% added to other

decrease in their total taxes. It is generally a popular idea among
most people and has been chosen by nearly all of the people who have
had a vote on it.

where local restaurants can serve it with meals, which would also
